The taste of the Caribbean takes over Centennial Park from August 10-12. We are celebrating 17 years of delicious jerk meals from the best chefs around the world as the longest running Jerk Festival in North America! We celebrate 17 years with some epic Headliners.
Toronto, ON – The 17th annual Grace Jerk Festival is pleased to announce the August 10-12 headliners. The 3-day performance schedule kicks off on August 10th with feature performances by Fantasia, Fab 5, Chaka Demus and Pliers & Melanie Durrant. This full weekend of delicious food, family fun & activities will be capped off by a night full of music and dancing.
FANTASIA – Will be gracing the stage for our Love and R&B Edition, Ladies Of Soul on Friday. Along with several Grammy nominations and platinum selling albums Fantasia has In addition to being a mainstay in music, Fantasia adds author and actress to her growing list of accomplishments. In 2006, she released her New York Times bestselling memoir, Life Is Not a Fairytale, and starred as herself in the Lifetime movie of the same name.
Fab 5 – Fab 5, formed in 1970, is Jamaica’s pre‑eminent popular band, whether measured by record sales at home, hits on the charts, frequency of engagements or major awards won over the years. They backed Johnny Nash on all the reggae cuts comprising most of his platinum album “I Can See Clearly Now”. Two singles from that album, “Guava Jelly” and “Stir It Up”, established Bob Marley as a major songwriter on the international scene. Catch him live on the festival stage the 12th and the 13th.
Melanie Durrant – Melanie Durrant has received multiple accolades throughout her career. She was nominated in several categories at the 2004 Canadian Urban Music Awards at the MuchMusic Video Awards. She recieved her third consecutive nomination for “Four Seasons” as a 2015 JUNO Award-nominee for R&B/Soul Recording of the Year. On 17 February 2015 Durrant released her sophomore album entitled “Anticipation”. The album was released through her own independent imprint Melo-D’s Inc. Anticipation was well received and charted in the No. 5 spot on iTunes Canada for R&B/Soul album. Melanie Durrant joins the stage with Fantasia for our Love and R&B Edition, Ladies of Soul Friday the 10th.
CHAKA DEMUS & PLIERS– Both Chaka Demus & Pliers had established successful solo careers prior to combining their efforts. Demus, who grew up in the Waterhouse district of Kingston, launched his career as a deejay for the Roots Majestic sound system. Although he made his recording debut with the King Jammy-produced single “Increase Your Knowledge,” his first hit came in 1986 when he recorded “One Scotch” as a duet with Admiral Bailey.

August 10-12, 2018 will mark Jerk Festival’s 17th year. Every year in August, Centennial Park comes alive with the largest annual Jerk event of the year. Over 60,000 people come to enjoy the only food festival that provides an authentic taste of the Caribbean while enjoying the best in Reggae, Soca & R&B music.
